Improve the efficiency of domestic heating

With winter, temperatures falls, the role of domestic boilers increases in significance. UK homeowners often forget that like most frequently used appliances; boilers require maintenance, and care, which is perhaps understandable given their out’of sight, out of mind ‘nature. Regular servicing plays an essential part in preventing future breakdowns and ensuring the boiler is running as efficiently as possible, which is likely to extend its overall lifespan. So, FLEXELEC have launched to protect the boiler and the pipe a heating cable Antifreeze which can be used to domestic heating boiler. Indeed, Antifreeze heating cables have been specially designed to protecting [...]

Heating cable or heating tape: how choose?

The heating cable or tape choice depends on a lot of elements. We are going to try to understand why. First of all, it’s important to define exactly and what you want to get taking into account the operating conditions. To help you in this process, the manufacturer has developed FLEXELEC appropriate questionnaires that you can download: questionnaire Flexelec product.pdf Don’t forget that little scheme will define the accessories needed to install FLEXELEC tape and heating cables. You will found a complete range of junction boxes, connection kit, thermostats, hygrothermostats, power modulator and fitting accessories. Then, simply contact us on our [...]

Heating cable and wintery swimming pool

There are two techniques for setting wintery swimming pool. Passive wintery, where the entire system will pool be put to sleep, and a tarp will cover the basin. The active wintery where we will maintain a flow of water inside the pipes so that the pipe doesn’t burst. Active wintery is certainly easy to set up and preserve the quality of your water, but it is not suitable for areas where freezing risk is important. We are interested in passive wintery, which require a longer introduction, but the benefits are undeniable. After having purified the pool, put a wintery product [...]

Refrigeration Cold door: different types of cables can be used

Cold room doors should prevent ice which avoids closing doors in factories. FLEXELEC uses heating cables which depend on the type of door. Indeed, if the doors are flexible or rigid anti-shock heating cables used will be different. Thanks to these doors heating cables are protected from ice. Here are 3 ways to protect doors from freezing cold. First of all, ”classic” cold room doors require a heating cable FLEXTRACE FTSO. This self-regulating cable is installed on the edge of the door which prevents the ice. In fact, the cable maintains and heats the temperature of the door. Then, “bumper” the cold [...]

Heat Pump and air conditioning drain heater – CSC2K

The heater FLEXDRAIN CSC2K, has already proved to be a large success, principally due to its introduction at the time of record growth in the heat pump market. This product has become compulsory when the external unit of a heat pump is supplied with a drip tray. If the condensate freezes in the tray, the heat pump is most likely to fail/break due to the build up of ice.   To avoid condensate freezing in the drain tray, we recommend to incorporate our heater. The heater FLEXDRAIN CSC2K is a drain-line heater with integrated thermostat. It is designed to be placed [...]

Heat pumps, FLEXELEC, your best partner for drain heaters

Heat pumps are part of a growing market. In total, 4.5 million heat pumps have been sold since 2005 in Europe. FLEXELEC manufacture and supply heating cables to many large manufacturers. To prevent condensates from freezing FLEXELEC recommend to include a heating cable inside or underneath the condensate tray.                             The drain line heater range CSC2K has especially been designed and tested to be installed inside condensate trays. This product features: – a heating cable which integrated 1m cold lead, where the connection is fully water proof. – an [...]

Rail heating for Automatic gates

In winter, ice may form on the rail, and interfere with sliding gates.   The hollow shape of the rail allows a heating cable to be inserted nearest the surface to be heated, without any complex fixings. Heat transfer through most metals is good and allows a reduction in electrical consumption. If the rail used is not hollow, then the only way is to heat it is from underneath (in concrete, under stones…). For each problem, Flexelec can provide its solution. The heating cable FLEXTRACE  FTSH/TF/20 solves icing issues and increased the temperature of the rail by approximately 15°C. Technical characteristics of heating cable FLEXTRACE FTSH: [...]

Freezeprotection systems from 1/2 inch pipes – inside pipe

Thermal protection from the inside of a pipe is an innovative solution for preventing frozen pipes. Flexelec has manufactured and supplied a 230V version called FTX/10W/m for inside pipes above 1 inch in diameter since 1995. This product is safe to use in drinking water pipes as it is electrically protected via a metallic braid overlaid by thermoplastic insulation. However, for pipes below 1/2 inch in diameter the FTX cable is too big to be fitted correctly without blocking the water flow. This is why, in January 2012 Flexelec launched the first constant wattage cable to be used inside 1/2 inch pipes up to 35m [...]

Door heaters 24V VS 230V

The UK is one of the only remaining countries in Europe widely using low voltage systems for doors, threshold and frost heave These low voltage systems are composed of a transformer (230V=>24V or 48V) being the dearest part of the installation, whilst the heaters are usually very basic and single insulated.        VS                             Historically, before RCD 30mA protections became compulsory, the low voltage system was the safest solution and therefore widely developed. THIS IS NOW CLEARLY UN-NECESSARY as electrical protections mentioned above are now a standard and make [...]

Allowing car/train wash area to be clear of ice/snow during winter: FLEXFLOOR from FLEXELEC application

Allowing car wash areas to be clear of ice/snow during winter is an important issue. Automatic car or train washes can sometimes suffer closure because of impossibility to run in winter as a result of ice building up on the tarmac or the concrete of the bay area. FLEXELEC proposes solutions to this problem. By proposing our under floor heating cable range FLEXFLOOR, we offer the possibility of having the “washing bay” free of ice/snow and therefore allow its full accessibility in winter regardless of the freezing temperatures. FLEXELEC solutions include a heating cable embedded in concrete (or Tarmac) associated with a [...]
